WELCOME MESSAGE
Thanks for researching this race and visiting my website. I hope you find the information here to help you make an informed decision when you cast your vote (click here for Advanced Voting Info).
I have been visiting neighborhoods since June when I first filed. I hope to have the opportunity to meet as many people as possible during the campaign.
Vote for Pam Ippel on November 4
Why I’m running
I’m running because I’m concerned about health care, schools, and energy. Health care costs keep rising; There is health care legislation with bipartisan support that has not been voted on or even discussed. This session was comsumed debating a power plant for one-company in one-county. We need a broad-based common sense approach to energy and to fully fund education and control health care costs.
In early 2004 I changed my party affiliation from Republican to Democrat. I became aware of the increasing tilt of the Republican party away from fiscal conservatism towards social conservation. It was also in that year that I read and learned about the local political agenda and the saw that social conservatives take over the Republican Party in both Johnson County and in the State Party (“What’s the Matter with Kansas” and other readings). I was surprised to learn how the shift had happened quietly, while I was busy raising my family. I had been happy with the management of the state in the 90’s, but the shift towards social conservatism in government was troublesome to me.
I’m running for the Kansas House of Representatives as a Democrat because I’m unhappy with the Kansas political arena. It’s time that the voters in the district are given the choice to vote for a moderate who promises to focus on education, health care and the developing economic opportunities, instead of an empty campaign promise to legislate what are personal decisions.
I want to represent you in Topeka. We need legislatures in Topeka who will put the people first and fight for — their health, their schools, their jobs. Can I count on your vote?
